Mardi Gras 2011

A bit about Mardi Gras to help better understand these images. I was lucky enough to be invited to join a ‘Krewe’ - known as Thoth. Early morning of our parade day, we boarded our float - and not allowed to leave until the parade was over. We were on the float for almost 12 hours! Also, according to strict Mardi Gras rules, you MUST always be wearing a mask to cover your face - and it was a bit of a creepy mask too. All of these photographs were taken from the float while wearing a mask, looking down on the crowd of revelers and bead collectors…
